Help! making my own invitations, what should i write?

Question: Help! making my own invitations, what should i write?

(Posted by: Wife to an amazing man on 2011-03-04 11:36:52)

I have looked around for ideas online but it all seems to "formal " and just not us. E.g Josh and Lily Request the pleasure of your company at the celebration of their union. BLAH..... I want to include the invitees name in the wording and make it less formal. we have been together 8 years and only inviting 15 people the invitation are more for "cutesy " reasons and so we don't have to keep calling everyone to remind them of dates lol. i even thought maybe making it a little funny like: Josh hunter & Lily bradley are making it legal!!! we would love for katie and dex Roland to be apart of our special day on 14th May 2011 at 6pm at cherry wood manor Japan. or something like that im not very good at this sort of thing. Thanks everyone

This is the format that we used: Because you have shared in our lives with your Friendship and Love, We (my name) and (my fiance's name) Along with our parents invite you to join us as we celebrate our new life together at 6 o' clock in the evening on Saturday, the 25th of June, two thousand eleven Venue name Venue Address Reception dinner to follow

I think your idea is cute! That's awesome if you really are getting married in Japan btw. Or you could play up the fact that you've been together for so long like "We finally decided it's time! " "Since we're not getting any younger.... " etc, I like weddings that can be humorous and not so stuffy and serious.

Your idea is by far the best! Making your own invitations is a great way to make things personal and a fantastic way to save money. Your wording shows your personality and no one else can suggest anything better than what you have written yourself.

I like yours, seriously, it is cute, yet includes invitee's by name, very nice and thoughtful.

If what you see online is not for you, then don't do it. You're only inviting 15 people, so the wedding and invitations don't have to be formal. It seems like a casual, intimate ceremony. What you have written sounds great to me!! Being a future teacher, I cannot help but tell you to be sure to capitalize your first & last names, your guests' first and last names, the first words of sentences, and the location of your ceremony. Additionally, I would like to add that "apart " should be "a part " (two words). "Apart " means "in pieces, " as in, "The cake fell apart. " Don't forget that you need a comma after 2011 and after Cherry Wood Manor. Please know that I do not say these things about your grammar to nag on you; I only want to help you! Congrats!!
