When should wedding invitations be mailed?

Question: When should wedding invitations be mailed?

(Posted by: Rose on 2010-07-12 11:21:13)

My wedding is the first weekend of September. Its now 7/ 12. My Mom says its way too early to get them mailed out. When should I get them out?

Usually 8 weeks before the wedding date

You must mail them now, it is custom to mail them 6-8 weeks before your wedding.

8 weeks. Since yours is the week following Labor Day I would have done it even earlier.

You should mail them 6-8 weeks before the wedding--this gives guests time to make arrangements (vacation days, hotel reservations, etc.) and it gives you time to receive their RSVPs for your reception. So, you should mail them out soon.

Four to six weeks before the RSVP date You want at least two weeks before the wedding for your RSVP You need to give a week, for those who wait for the date or late to mail in I had to call a few people My RSVP were three weeks before the wedding I had a week to make phones calls before I need to give the final count

The "rule " is 6-8 weeks before the event... but I think you should only do that if you DON'T want out of town guests to attend. If you have a lot of out of town guests, then 3 months is minimum. Less than that and they may not have the time or money to attend. Considering that your wedding is less than 2 months away, they should have already been sent by now.
